I wouldn't know, but I have to ask, why do you want to know about his specific workouts?

I got the feeling that you want to copy his routine, something you should not do.

It is hard to take the routine of someone like Platz who was really a genetic freak and try and make it your own. It is, in my opinion, a recipe for overtraining.

I read somewhere that he'd ride his bike around Venice for 20 mile safter a leg work-out.
That's the key!

It's an interesting point. I know he had trouble developing his arms. It would be interesting to see how he trained a part of his body that didn't grow easily, which was probably anything above his waist.

Wasn't he one of the pioneers behind the BBB program (with Leo Costa?) I believe there's a thread about it on this forum.

Not sure this is real thou, found it when i googled.
-----
1.Stretch thoroughly before beginning.
2.Go slowly below parallel.
3.Put everything you have into every set.
TOM PLATZ:LEG ROUTINE
EXCERSISE SETS REPS
SQAUT 8-12 5-20
HACK SQAUTS 5 10-15
LEG EXTENSIONS 5-8 10-15
LYING LEG CURLS 6-10 10-15
STANDING CALF RAISES 3-4 10-15
SEATED CALF RAISES 3-4 10-15
HACK MACHINE CALF RAISES 3-4 10-15
------
Always heard the man had insane intensity, like non stop squat for 10 minutes and so.
Tried frontsquat 2min non stop and that was enough to make me lay on the floor for a while.... lol..so reacon 10 minutes have to be a killer.

EDIT: Ok,so this was not what the thread starter asked about, sorry :)

Everyone thought his leg workouts were amazing because of the results, which is more to do with genetics anyways.

I used to watch Platz train in the early 80's at world gym. Great intenstiy. For his arms, he would train to complete faliute. He would do drop sets, 1/2 curls, 1/4 curls using his whole body to cheat, even at a very low dumbell weight. This sort of extreme training to failiure cost Platz as he later tore his bicep.

As a young person interested in training, I was in awe of watching Tom train. I remember him as a very nice and approchable guy. Would ask him question when he was done and he was ALWAYS very polite. A true gentleman.

With longer hair he looks like Kurt Russell. I just picture him saying with Kurt's voice..."Oh Come on! What the hell!?"

Platz as a youngster.

Seems like his upper body is better then the legs here.
